Paulie Malignaggi looking to dump Lou DiBella? by JealousProfit &Ricardo Lois
Jul 10, 2010 - The media is now us. You, me, everyone around us.
The next boxing scoop could come from a seasoned, classically trained journalist, or a die-hard fan with access to a fighter, promoter, or manager and a Twitter account.
I can see Nigel Collins, Dan Rafael, and other cringing miles away.
The last time we saw Paulie Malignaggi, he was being dominated by Amir Khan inside of New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Today at the Sadam Ali Boxing & Fitness Center in New York City, boxing fan JealousProfit (www.twitter.com/jealousprofit) came across Malignaggi and uncovered a diamond of a story.
Malignaggi informed JealousProfit that he would be continuing he career, but is looking to cut his ties with long-time promoter Lou DiBella.
Here is JealousProfit’s Twitter message...
“Paulie says he's buying himself out of his contract b4 he even gets in the gym. Has 18mo left & wants 2 make a comeback in the fall.”
There is no need to question JealousProfit’s statements, as he verified them to me, but one has to wonder why Malignaggi would ditch DiBella?
Armed with boxing ability, but no punch, and a loud mouth, Malignaggi was guided into a successful and profitable career highlighted with bouts against Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, and Juan Diaz by DiBella..
If Malignaggi continues fighting, he is destined to be a veteran gatekeeper at junior welterweight for up and comer and no promoter will be able to change that.
